Well, I knew that Athens is one of the top destinations for escape world "enthusiasts", but I honestly didn't expect this (and we were not even in the real room)!
Last night we decided to find out what's going on in the Exit Now Horror Hotel in Athens. They have a remote escape room on the theme of horror. As you may know I'm quite insensitive to this theme and I really had doubts about making us live this kind of emotion, behind a screen. And yet...
Appointment 15 minutes before the beginning of the adventure: We met our MJ on zoom. He introduces himself as Agent X. He will be our field agent (fortunately).
This game reminds me a little bit of video games because our Agent has 4 lives (fortunately) and a backpack with useful things in it. No need to have a second screen here, a notepad and a pen are enough. We took some pictures of some documents to work with more easily because we had (fortunately) some documents available to identify the weak points of the not very welcoming inhabitants of the hotel.
After the basic explanations, Agent X turns his camera over, fixes it to himself and off we go for 90 minutes of immersion. We start in the noise of a street in Athens. It will already difficult to get into the hotel.
My story will stop here to allow you to enjoy this adventure to its fullest.
Exit now surprised us by sending us the next day a small video summarizing our adventure: Enjoy!
We will spend here 90 intense minutes during which we will fight for the survival of Agent X. This is also the time to congratulate him for his courage, agility and reactivity. I must admit that I was rather happy not to actually be in this place.
In this Hotel you will certainly find puzzles, but they are not the most important element of this game, as it is often the case in horror rooms. There are some puzzles and some searching to do and they are nice, but the highlight of the adventure is the special progression of our hero, the discovery of the places, the inhabitants and their elimination which is sometimes really impressive.
This game costs 60 € for 90 minutes during which 2 actors will give life to 400 square meters. I admit that I can only dream of such a thing at home. And at the same time we travelled without moving from home.
At the end we had the pleasant surprise to exchange a little with the manager of the company and the 2 actors. I promised to name them : our Agent X was Mike the Greek Playboy and there was also Ramon the Spanish butcher... it makes you want to try this, doesn't it ?
+ We enjoyed +
The 4 lives
The struggle for survival
The inhabitants of the hotel
- We didn't like -
A sound which was sometimes difficult to understant and that was too loud
